You might have seen this photo in email forwards or profile images on facebook/myspace/orkut especially on Independence day or Republic day. You might even believe that this image shows the pain, bravery and hard work of Indian soldiers who fought for Indian Independence.
But the truth is that, IT IS NOT. You have been fooled.
Here is the truth.. This is an iconic piece of American history that some ignorant person Photoshopped. It devalues the bravery and tragedy of the Marines who defended the USA in the Pacific during World War 2. Here is the real picture.
By forwarding the first photo, I mean, if you are, or if you ever did, you are actually insulting our nation. We have hundreds of moments of Indian Independence to be proud of. Use those moments to show your respect and gratitude towards our nation. India never takes credit for other peoples hard work. So you must never forward this kind of images. If you ever see the first image in your friends status updates or profile picture, stop and take the time to explain to them that are actually insulting the nation unknowingly. And never forward emails or images claiming something without legitimate proofs. If you get an email which says "urgent information, forward to 10 people" (or else you will die tomorrow before midnight), please take the time to Google about it and try to understand whether its true or not.
